more misc

I randomly came across this store on 8th st (btwn broadway & university) on a walk around the city yesterday... AC Gears

It is an awesome little store, they carry mostly Japanese electronics, electronic accessories, robots, toys, etc. They are even the Japanese models and packaging, not english versions of them. I thought it was cool cause they have the exact selection of headphones as electronic stores had in Tokyo when I went, so it's legit. Really it's a sweet store. Check it out. It was all I could do to not buy this...

I mean really! A robot USB! Ah, why does it have to be $40 for only 256MB.

(side note & speaking of robots: I had an interview yesterday, and there were like tons of cases of robots inside this design firm. I got really excited. I should've sent them a photo of my robot shelf. hah.)

Also, I love this photographer,Kalle Gustafsson.
(a little cheesey subject-wise sometimes, but I love the colors and style)

Last but not least, The Decapitator.
I thought everyone knew about it, but I guess I just read too many design blogs.
I hope he comes to New York sometime. Love it.

Hedi Slimane's photo diary.

(I promise the photos of Pete Doherty are not the only reason I like it.)

I need to have

a Smörgåsbord party.

Anyways, someday if I am rich (like ridiculously rich), and I cannot live in an original Le Corbusier,
one of these High Modern Homes would be pretty sweet.

I don't think I've ever mentioned these on here...

I was reminded of how nice looking these headphones are when a friend sent me a link w/ this photo with them in it.

I bought them in Tokyo hoping to be slightly original, but I have seen some people around the city with them. I also have gotten a few "those remind me of those huge headphones that I used in computer class in elementary school."Not quite sure if that is good or bad, but I love them.

They are officially called the Panasonic RP-HTX7 retro-style headphones.
I highly recommend them.
Mine are the lovely light blue/grey colour...

NOTCOT.org just told me

There is a Cup Noodle Factory and Museum in Osaka.
You can make your own custom Cup Noodle flavor there.
I need to go back to Japan.

It would be worth the trip just to go to this Cup Noodle vending machine.

Contrary to popular belief...

life in suburban Cleveland can get a little slow at times. hah.
So, I think I might build this tomarrow...

Sorry for copying the idea, but it's just so cute.
Heres what the original creator had to say about it...

David Shrigley: "A few years ago I went to St Moritz in Switzerland. I decided to build a non-conformist snowman. When the art collector who owned the hotel saw it he became very excited that I had created an artwork in the grounds of his hotel. I had to explain that it was not an artwork - it was just a snowman. It’s an easy mistake to make"

I really like this guy's website. There are so many different parts to discover.
And it is clean, organized and highly functional, just like I love it.

So 2 weeks ago Flickr started this amazing thing for pro accounts, "Stats, stats, baby!"
>
If you request your stats they will crunch all these crazy numbers for you. They chart and graph stuff like your daily aggregated views, view counts by photos, photo streams, sets & collections, your most viewed photos today and all time, what sites referred people to your photos, and a breakdown of your photos like tagged/not tagged, in sets/not in sets, with views/without views, etc.

Pretty interesting in my opinion. Turns out my flickr is more popular than I thought, and by popular I don't mean to imply it is on any grand scale, the fact that anyone other than myself even looks at it amazes me. haha

And apparently this photo is one of my more popular photos. The reason, is beyond me.

Daft Punk's Electroma

If you like artsy, pretentious films...
with no dialog and long periods of awkward silence...
where almost nothing happens beyond really really long walks across the desert...
where only half the audience is left by the end of it,
Well, this ones for you.

Also, if you wanted to see this movie because you like Daft Punk's music...
Dont. There isn't any in it.

I guess at the very least it was pleasant visual experience.
