I just woke up from a nap...

and I dreamed that everything I owned with rounded corners had nice, clean, sharp, square edges and corners. My ipod, this powerbook, my desk, printer, polaroid camera, strawberry chocolate phone, etc. Everything that should be square was square, and everthing that should be round was round. It was great!

Why can't everyone smarten up like canon did. I love my camera.

Why can't we have cool phones like this?

If I lived in Japan, this would be my phone. It's the FOMA N703iD. Ah its so hot!

I <3 Shopping

For future, personal reference, Romantic Standard was maybe my favorite store in all of Tokyo. It is located in Harajuku. I bought my dark gray jumper/dress there and that's also where they had the sweet silver and gold shoes and black sweater I should have bought.

My fav design experience in Tokyo

Man I suck at keeping up with this! I Okay the coolest "design experience" that I had on my travels would be going to the UT store in Harajuku in Tokyo. It was rediculous (in a really good way)! I think 99% of the time anything designed this heavily would be a little overboard and way overdesigned, but not this, it was SO well done that there is nothing bad I can say about it. (except maybe all the tubes are not too environmentally conscious). Not only was the actual design of the store and packaging impressive, but so were the actual tshirts for sale. They have a lot of artist collaboarations, japanese themes, tons of pantones, and my favorite, a typography series with all different words and things only a type-nerd would know. Overall, SO cool and unlike anything I've ever seen/experienced before!

Back from my Asian Adventures!

Hey. Wow, its been a long time since I last posted, lots has happened! I was in Tokyo for 2ish weeks, and Beijing for a month. Blogspot is blocked in China, so that helps account for not updating in so long. I took 3,469 photos on my travels, so needless to say, quite a bit of that was design related. Tons of package design, and tons of cool architecture. Also some signage, money design, and other random things. To see all of my photos just go to my flickr page. Also, over the next few days I'm going to post some of my favorite "design-related" ones on here too.

So, a lot of people have asked me what the differences were between Japan and China. I think if you just look at these graphics that were on the doors of the subway telling you to look out for the opening and closing doors, you can see for yourself what the differences are...

Oh how I love and miss Asia!
